Senior Commercial Manager

 

Lead commercial growth in an international B2B manufacturing environment
Are you an experienced Senior Sales Manager, Commercial Manager, or Business Development professional with a strong background in international B2B sales? Do you have the ability to develop commercial strategies, build strategic customer relationships, and drive sustainable revenue and margin growth?

SD Guthrie International in Zwijndrecht is looking for a Senior Sales Manager (Senior Commercial Manager) who will take ownership of the commercial development of our site and contribute to strengthening our position in the European market.

In this senior commercial leadership role, you combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You will lead the Sales organization, develop commercial growth strategies, optimize customer partnerships, and work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Product Innovation & Development to create long-term business value.

The opportunity
As Senior Sales Manager / Senior Commercial Manager, you are responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy for the Zwijndrecht site.

You will play a key role in identifying new business opportunities, strengthening strategic customer relationships, improving commercial performance, and driving sustainable growth.

You will be part of the Site Management Team and act as a strategic commercial partner for the organization.

You will lead the Sales team consisting of Account Managers and Sales Support professionals. In addition, you will have hierarchical responsibility for the Product Innovation & Development (PID) Manager, ensuring strong alignment between customer needs, market developments, and innovative product solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the Zwijndrecht site.
  • Drive revenue growth, margin improvement, and portfolio optimization.
  • Identify new markets, customers, and business development opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key customers.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a professional Sales team.
  • Establish clear commercial processes, KPIs, and performance management structures.
  • Develop account strategies and long-term customer partnerships.
  • Lead complex B2B negotiations and commercial agreements.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Supply Chain, and Product Innovation & Development.
  • Monitor market trends, customer developments, and competitive dynamics.
  • Report commercial performance and strategic initiatives to senior management.

What you bring

Education & knowledge

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Commercial Economics, Marketing, Food Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of commercial strategy, pricing, contract management, and margin management.
  • Experience within an international B2B environment.
  • Experience in the food industry, food ingredients, oils & fats, or a comparable manufacturing/process environment is preferred.

Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in a senior commercial, sales management, or business development role.
  • Proven track record in driving commercial growth and developing customer partnerships.
  • Experience leading and developing sales professionals.
  • Experience implementing commercial processes, KPIs, and performance management.
